PurePure

Set in pre-revolutionary Paris, the novel deals with the demolition of the Saints Innocents Cemetery , a place filled to overflowing with the remains of countless generations of Parisians, rich and poor. The cemetery has been closed to new interments and has become an offense and health hazard to the surrounding area. Young engineer from the country, Jean-Baptiste Baratte, is commissioned to undertake the demolition of the cemetery and its buildings. Pure is the story of the subsequent events.
