Thomas Perry is a popular author. Unlike some other comments, I actually thought the plotting was excellent. However, I felt Mr. Perry inclined to give too much detail. When the main character is pulling a job to steal or to spy on suspected killers, depth of detail is important. But otherwise, not so much. For example, when she's driving from place to place I don't need to know every street & freeway she takes. Also, those details are often offered in quite similar declarative sentences - quite dull, choppy, and disruptive to the flow. Never-the-less, I found this new character intriguing enough that I might read the second in the series when it appears.
