At the very height of "Flower Power" in the mid-1960s, you can be sure that The Mamas & The Papas (and their distinctive folk-rock sound) were just as prominent on the North American pop music scene as were The Beach Boys (and their cool, California, surfer sound). Consisting of four talented members, The Mamas & The Papas were headlined by John Phillips who wrote and arranged all of their songs, always focusing on the fusion of strong vocal harmonies mixed with easy-listening melodies. Between 1965-1970, The Mamas & The Papas had 5 albums and 6 top-ten hits to their well-deserved credit. This "Best Of" CD contains twenty songs in all from The Mamas & The Papas at the absolute height of their popularity, such as - California Dreamin', Monday-Monday, Words Of Love, and I Saw Her Again Last Night. *Note* - The only member of this group who is still alive today is Michelle Phillips. (Cass Elliot d. 1974, John Phillips d. 2001, Denny Doherty d. 2007)
