I was actually surprised at how good of a book this was: it had intelligence, comedy, heart... It was the first few chapters that presented all the troubles with their horrible writing. I went to put the book down several times before page 100 (landmark where I make these decisions) but I felt compelled to continue due to an interesting premise and, more accurately, the self-imposed pressure to read a book purchased for me by a family member. It did turn: by page 150, I was smiling; by page 200, I had giggled a few times and by page 300, I didn't want to put it down. All of the supporting characters were important and well-developed, complete figures that made the book and lent themselves to understanding the main characters. However, I think the reason I found this book on a clearance table is the terrible beginning, which was not well thought out or well written - too many people would give up. If you have a chance, keep going: the last 200 pages are quite crisp and what one should expect from the genre.
