After the first few pages, I didn't think I was going to like this book but I kept reading because I use Nancy Pearl's rule of reading - Subtract your age from 100 and you are left with the number of pages to allow a book to grab you. That number gets smaller as you get older, because you have less time, and hopefully you are more discerning. I'm glad I kept reading because the book grabbed me. It is about a you muslim boy living in the US and trying to find his place in the world and even in his family. The pull of different cultures and the sheltering he has within his own, sometimes leaves him on shaky ground. When his "auntie" Mina come to live with the family, the world opens up a bit, but not without consequences. I couldn't put this book down. I would recommend it to anyone.
