Hands down, Sam and Grace's relationship and their struggle to remain together was the main attraction for me. And the way their relationship was, slow but steady, the pace of the book was perfect for them. Everything just slowed down when they were concerned. Made things more intense. Isabel and Cole...I don't know. They started out really explosive together but somewhere along the trilogy I forgot their purpose for sticking together: with each other, with Sam and Grace, and with Mercy Falls. They were both such full of contradictions and I stopped trying to figure them out. Which leads me to the biggest problem I had with this book: the analogies. Every emotion ever felt by any of the four characters was so thoroughly explained through analogies, smilies and metaphors that a lot of the times they lost any meaning to me. Again, I faced this problem mostly with Isabel and Cole because after a while I just couldn't figure out what they wanted. A lot of the times, I just wished the author would leave the emotion as it is, raw and unfiltered. Or how about not describe it at all? There's a reason why actions speak louder than words. Would've been less of an emotional cluster.
