Our whole family of pre-teen to teen enjoyed this movie. Lots of issues that are dealt with. No censoring/skipping/fast-forwarding needed. A teen who has been teased and picked on for the tragic mistake of his father starts at a new school. Various characters he interacts with have issues of grief, self-esteem, anger, failure, trust etc. this is mixed with some good, not immature humor. Talents are discovered and the students face there fears as they form a band and enter the yearly BandSlam Contest. Ending is not a happily ever after sugar-coated type, but not disappointing either.
