I'm always eager to get my hands on a new Foreigner book. If you haven't read any of this excellent series, start at the beginning, with Foreigner. The plots of the novels stand on their own for the most part, but the personal, political and technological development from book to book rewards reading in order. With this particular book, although I enjoyed it, I did find there was a bit too much assessment of the political situation compared to action. I realize when the main character is a high ranking diplomat, power struggles, often on a world-shaking scale, are just part of the deal, but I could have done with a little less recap of which group wanted what. Young Cajeiri continues to delight. Even a simple scene with him having a slingshot competition with a visiting lord is a highlight. I've really enjoyed watching him grow up in these books, A bit of an abrupt ending to this one, but on to the next . . .
