The pretentiousness of this German film is absolutely staggering. This one certainly had potential to be a real winner, but it fell flat on its complacent face within its first 15 minutes. Director, Wim Wenders was really grasping at straws with this trite nonsense 'cause he just didn't have the skill to produce a film with any real depth to it. This is all shallow monotony. I got really sick of looking at actor, Bruno Ganz' face with that dumb half-smile always pasted on it. He really gave me the creeps, big-time. This film could've easily been edited down to about 80 minutes and it wouldn't have marred the story one bit. In fact, if this film were shorter, it probably would've been better. 'Cause as it stood, it was unendurable
