A very engaging, true story told from the perspective of a young Jewish girl deported from Poland to Siberia along with her family during World War II. The story is that of the author and as a result is told with a real honesty and intimacy for details. I found this book difficult to set down. It would be a great novel to read while studying World War II and one that I believe would be appropriate for junior and senior high school students as well as adults. I did notice some editorial errors in the text, but these did not detract from the story. I would highly recommend this book.
