Was not impressed with the writing nor direction and found it also to drag on. Skipped ahead a few times and was not interested in seeing the Bonus Features on this DVD.

Like the point that the film was about Australia. Enjoyed the accents of the actors and the scenery. However, I found the movie to drag on and on and I have seen to many similar plotted movies that are done better. An ok movie to watch but expect it to go at a very slow pace.

A bored young policeman from a one-cop gold mining community met up with a out-of-town "blackfella black" detective during a DUI stop. With comradeship and bravado, the pair of lawmen came to save each other and the victims from the local criminals. Excellent chemistry between the two actors, beautiful locations (Winton and Cobbold Gorge, QLD) and a rare human trafficking spin by the Asian madame (see "Quotes".) Understand that it is a sequel to "Mystery Road 2014." Hope it is just as good.

The Asian madame talked to one of her girl:

So spirited and foolish. You remind me of my youth. Have you thought about what could happen to the others because of you? How will you face their families with their blood on your hands? How far do you think you would get before the flies and snakes eat you alive? You think I'm a bad person? Do you? The world is what it is. You cannot bargain with it. You cannot change it. To find a place to fit within it. This is your destiny. Anything else is to ask for trouble. Anything else is to ask for too much. The world was not made for you. You were made for it.

Earlier in the film she said:

You will stay here for two weeks. In these two weeks, when we have customers, you will work. If you feel sick you will still work. You will work here to repay your debts. ... If you refused to work, you will be punished. And your families back home will learn the truth of what you are doing here.

Josh, I'm just an old woman who likes to bake pies.

How much do you think your life's worth? There's billions of dollars out there. How do you think that compares with an old blackfella or a lone Asian girl? A prostitute, for Christ's sake. But I guess that's just your style, isn't it? A copper who prefers to spend his time with working girls.

Where you from?
-A small town, a long way from here. You?
A small town, long way from here.

You know, growin' up out here in the bush, I wouldn't change it for anything. And I mean anything. But sometimes I can't help but get this feelin' that... I coulda been... Or I shoulda been... Somethin' more than... What I turned out.

My grandfather saw first white man here. He come on a camel. Then the Chinese men come. They said they all look for the gold stone. And they follow the same god. Money god.

Are you a single girl, pinky?
- Yeah, most of the time.
You hear of things happening out here?
- Sometimes.
===
Are any of you girls here against your will?
Has anybody threatened you in any way?
Are any of you being forced to pay back money?
Okay, thanks for your time.
===
Well, how do you know they're not being trafficked?
-How do you know they are?

Just don't take it personal when things turn from ripe to rotten. 'Cause that's how life is, Jay.
