This was kind of a hybrid. Forced creepiness with a sort of cheesy, quasi-romance component. It doesn't really work.

Props to Gerritsen for writing her own music, which gets played on this audio.

Perhaps had she written a non-fiction work about these topics and the history, which she clearly spent a lot of time researching, the result would have been better. Her Afterword is passionate and informative, engaging in a way that way the narrative is not.
