I always wondered if authors made playlists based on the books they write and apparently Paula Stokes does. I checked out her playlist for the Art of Lainey (which included a diverse selection of music) and discovered one of my favorite bands "The Ramones" was on the playlist with the song " I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend". Let's just that any book that inspired a Ramones song in its official playlist is worth reading for me! Hey Ho, Lets Go!

I own this book! I purchased it a little reluctantly, but was pleasantly surprised. I really like contemporary fiction. This book was really predictable, and Lainey is selfish and idiotic at times, but I felt like she was a good, flawed character. I'd rather that than a perfect one. An overall good book. I really liked the colloquial language the author used.

This was a pleasantly surprising read. I went in with low expectations, and I found a charming story that was hard to put down. Lainey has recently been dumped by her boyfriend, and her friend Bianca encourages her to use the The Art of War, an ancient Chinese war manual, to get her boyfriend back. While waging war against her old boyfriend, Lainey finds unexpected friendships and realizes that perhaps the future she envisioned is not the one she wants. The author did a good job making Lainey seem like a real person. I enjoyed watching Lainey's growth through the story. Another cool thing is that the story is set in St. Louis! Yah, Midwest!
