My generation was in on SNL from the beginning. Having just arrived at college for my Freshman year when the show debuted, it was an amazingly crazy and wonderful experience! For the first several weeks we kept saying "What IS this!" and "They let THIS on TV?!" Ha-Ha! Don't know how I missed this book for so many years, but I put it on hold when I saw it was available. I wanted this to be a great read with new information about the show. It was, but only to a point and I agree with the other reviewer that the writing style of separate quotes from the cast members, hosts, show crew and network people is choppy and takes getting used to. I liked the stories, but the format made the experience unfulfilling.

Everyone should be able to relate to this book, because I'm sure in the 30 plus years it's been on TV, everyone has watched this show. It's quite surprising that the authors got the cast members (with the one notable exception of Eddie Murphy), writers, producer (Lorne Michaels) and even NBC executives to be so open and truthful about their perceptions of each other and the show. This book consists almost entirely of quotes, with very little commentary from the authors. The excellent organization and editing are the true tasks of the authors in this case. It's definitely worth reading for a better understanding of the personalities behind the names that we all know.

A must read for SNL fans.
