The Middlesteins is about a saddish family. The mother has been overweight her whole life, finding pleasure, love, and friendship from her food. Her children and husband want her to stop over-eating, to no avail. She finds that “food is a good place to hide.”
I just flat didn’t like this book. I didn’t like the characters, nor find them interesting. The story was the opposite of riveting. It offered no insights nor revelations that could enrich my life.
