A burned-out L.A. detective... a woman of mystery who is far more than she seems... a grotesque, ancient monster bent on a mission of retribution. When these three collide, a new standard of suspense is born. The legend of the Golem of Prague has endured through the ages, a creature fashioned by a sixteenth-century rabbi to protect his congregation, now lying dormant in the garret of a synagogue. But the Golem is dormant no longer. Detective Jacob Lev wakes one morning, dazed and confused: He seems to have picked up a beautiful woman in a bar the night before, but he can’t remember anything about the encounter, and before he knows it, she has gone. But this mystery pales in comparison to the one he’s about to be called on to solve. Newly reassigned to a Special Projects squad he didn’t even know existed, he’s sent to a murder scene far up in the hills of Hollywood Division. There is no body, only an unidentified head lying on the floor of a house. Seared into a kitchen counter nearby is a single word: the Hebrew for justice. Detective Lev is about to embark on an odyssey—through Los Angeles, through many parts of the United States, through London and Prague, but most of all, through himself. All that he has believed to be true will be upended—and not only his world, but the world itself, will be changed.

One of Kellerman's best books! Anxious to read the second one Golem of Paris!

If you like Jonathan Kellerman's writing DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. It is terrible. I actually skimmed through the book, especially the sections concerning Adam, Eve, Cain & Abel...which was simply nonsensical stuff. This book is NOTHING like the usual writing of Jonathan Kellerman. I think his son, Jesse, wrote this book and Jonathan put his name on it to sell the book. Not worth reading. The bizzare epilogue meant nothing. Read reviews online for the negative reviews by many people...and I agree with them.

DO NOT READ THIS CRAP OF A BOOK. Whoever gave this book a 2 1/2 star rating is mentally deranged. What? What was this senseless, drug induced rambling? Did not make a lick of sense and I could not comprehend what this was about. I know what a Golem is and I do like supernatural and Steampunk so I thought this would be a trill ride into Fantasy. Started off interesting and then came a totally different Cain and Able rambling that was just off. What was this weird crap must be on drugs to write this shit. So I thought well just skip this garbage and read the Golem so I tried, and tried, and tried to get past the next few pages with no success. It just got more nonsensical and senseless. I have never read so much crap before and I do not know if I ever want to read my favorite Alex Delaware books ever again. I never could read nor liked Jesse's novels. I have also tried his collaboration with his wife Faye and hated the book. Like everybody that tried reading this book I skipped like mad forcing myself to read the last few chapters and could not do it. To much garbage. Well apparently Stephen King never read this crap or he was paid off to put his recommendation on the cover.
I am sorry to say goodbye to my favorite fictional character Alex Delaware as I never will read another Johnathan Kellerman book after this . For me that was the death knell of my favorite author. If you like Johnathan Kellerman DO NOT READ THIS BOOK.

I finished this book, but skipped over all the pages not in the present. It was still crap!

worst book ever!! & I usually love his stuff. Not into time-travelling, mythological serial killers. Made no sense at all

Wow...a big disappointment. Both authors are great but I didn't even finish this one.

Never got the point of the parts that were on shaded pages. Very confusing. Definitely not his best work.

CANNOT AGREE with other comments! I found this book disturbing with no real thought provoking ideas - kept going because of the authors and thought it would get tied up at the end. Waste of paper, they could've done better. SORRY!
