Once upon a time there was a terror? A kingdom is in turmoil after old King Roland dies and his worthy successor, Prince Peter, is imprisoned by the evil Flagg and his pawn, young Prince Thomas. But Flagg's evil plot is not perfect, for he knows naught of Thomas's terrible secret?or Prince Peter's daring plan to escape to claim what is rightfully his?. A tale of archetypal heroes and sweeping adventures, of dragons and princes and evil wizards, here is epic fantasy as only Stephen King could envision it. Stephen King has taken the classic fairy tale and transformed into a masterpiece of fiction for the ages.

This is certainly not your typical Stephen King was written for his daughter 25 years ago...quite tame...not a page turner, but an easy read with some humor, and a relatively happy will learn to appreciate napkins after reading this novel!!!!

Again one of my all time favorites of stephen king. Amazing book, I have read it through I think 5 or 6 times. I have it in my book shelf quite well used.
I really enjoyed the imagery in this one. Its set in castles and dragons time, as Id describe it. With kings and sorcerers and peasants and such.
A king is corrupted by his magician (who is a well known character to all king fans, randall flag or the dark one or by any other name he is called. He travels through times and now hes here.) who takes advantage of him and manipulates him. The king has a wife and she bears him 2 sons. One of which the magician corrupts as well be/c he is to take teh throne, he is much like his father the king. The other son is much like his mother the queen adn not liked by the magician be/c of this fact.
The action goes on from this strife and the story does NOT disappoint. Its wonderful. Full of pictures you make with your mind and it really transports you to that world.
