I once was invited to lunch by a group of women looking for a new member to their group. They spent 2 hours talking about people I never heard of, airing their dirty laundry, and bashing people. This book was just like that lunch, but with a forest fire as backdrop. Don't bother. Even the list of characters and their roles in the front didn't make me care about them.

not a knitting mystery. More of a wildfire update. Not interesting to me, as I couldn't picture the canyons- no map. There is a sweater knitting pattern at the back of the book, no picture.
Poor mystery in the background.
Do not recommend. Does not invite me to read more by this author.

Although this series has never had the best writing technique, I have enjoyed the story lines and the character interactions. This latest volume was a major disappointment. The mystery was basically only a sideline, and very limited at that, and there was very little character interactions and no character development. Basically, the only focus of the book was the Colorado wildfires. As the author lives in Colorado, I understand that the wildfires were a traumatic part of her life, but unfortunately, writing about them in her simplistic, almost juvenile writing style, showed clearly throughout the book (without having a true mystery to distract from that style) and made reading it almost an unbearable drudge. Please, even high school students learn that there are other creative ways to write conversations without ever sentence ending in "said_____"! This may well be the last of her books that I will read.
