When five-thousand-year-old human bones are found at a construction site in the small town of Woodsboro, the news draws archaeologist Callie Dunbrook out of her sabbatical and into a whirlwind of adventure, danger, and romance. While overseeing the dig, she must try to make sense of a cloud of death and misfortune that hangs over the project-fueling rumors that the site is cursed. And she must cope with the presence of her irritating—but irresistible—ex-husband, Jake. Furthermore, when a stranger claims to know a secret about her privileged Boston childhood, she is forced to question her own past as well.

I loved this story! Great main characters who banter throughout the book so well their chemistry is obvious. Wonderful story to boot. I recommend this book and don't let the thickness of the book scare you it's well worth the read. Couldn't put it down!

I like Nora Roberts' books for a fast-paced, easy-to-read suspense. I tolerate the romance that's sprinkled in. And normally, I enjoy the ride. But "Birthright" had too much romance, not enough suspense, and flat characters who I found it hard to sympathize with.

So, although I stuck it out to find out "whodoneit," I really wouldn't recommend this one to others.

Fantastic book - the first book I ever read of Roberts' and the best book of hers, in my opinion. (I have read the majority of her non-series titles). Multiple characters have a solid storyline and Callie and Jake have a great back-and-forth throughout the story that pulls you along. Highly recommended for Roberts fans or anyone who enjoys a good romance.
