Characters: 10/10
Plot: 9/10
Writing: 10/10
First, a note on the narrator: it was difficult at first to get used to his voice because he sounded like he was trying too hard to sound low and gravelly. As he went on, though, he sounded more natural, and after a few chapters I was able to get absorbed back into the story.

I really liked the Tartarus plotline; I think it was really well-done, especially with emphasizing all of the horrors of the place while still making it believable for them to have made it through.
It was harder for me to keep track of the moral world plotline; switching between Hazel, Jason, Leo, Piper, and Frank was a lot of perspectives to go through. It felt kinda disjointed. The bit where they end up in the palace of the god of the south wind was particularly confusing.

I wish the reader would pick up the pace a bit! He is detracting from the enjoyment of this story

RIck Riordan didn't make Tartarus that scary. That is the only thing I didn't like. I thought Tartarus was supposed to be the horror of life, the strongest primordial, and Tartarus barely tries to stop them, even in his new form.

Althought I enjoy this series, I'm getting a bit tired of the fight and flight storylines. There is good character deveopment but one of the characters faces a personal dilema which is very awkwardly handled. It should have been much more positive. "The Blood of Olympus" is due out next year and hopefully it will this will finish this series up and resolve all the issues.
