For anyone who has ever visited, or is going to visit, Detroit, I recommend reading this book-- preferably before you go. LeDuff captures the despair and the strength as well as the overwhelming challenges in the Motor City.

EXCELLENT look (or dust over, they're so complex) at the problems in the rust belt that will eventually spread to everyone else.
