I found this uninspirational... and slightly disappointing in a couple of different areas.
1] I didn't know about a former partner and didn't need that constant reminder that there was one. Don't think that needed to be in the book at all. Gabriel Hamilton wrote a non-fiction book about restauranteur'ing' and she's written cooking books. Keep them separate.
2] the recipes are hard to follow, there's little help in understanding how the flavors work together, sometimes it's hard to understand how to treat each ingredient before and as you should add it to the whole.

Usually I get an idea or two from any cookbook - not this one.
