Author interviewed on 3/18/2014 big science news on pbs's news hour: Scientists say they have found evidence confirming a theory that our cosmos expanded from almost nothing to its first huge growth spurt in just fractions of a second after the Big Bang. A telescope at the South Pole revealed patterns and skewed light waves created by gravitational ripples from the incredible expansion. Gwen Ifill interviews Sean Carroll of the California Institute of Technology.

Is all this profound,
or crazy?Here’s what we know:
---Entropy is responsible for the arrow of time, and in turn for metabolism and evolution. ---
Entropy has been increasing because it was very low in the early universe.
---We don't know why ----
Initial conditions? Beyond the Big Bang? Stay tuned.

Think about what is happening to the actual universe. Our universe is expanding and diluting. The future
is empty space. But in the presence of vacuum energy, even empty space has a non zero temperature ...

12 hours of lecture by author from fundamental physics to black-hole to explain modern theory on the "arrow of time" (low entropy state at big bang to ever higher entropy future of our universe). Plus was that the author presented all the concepts in plain language that HS students should easily understand; minus was lack of animation such as from his book that the lectures are based on - From Eternity to Here: The Quest for the Ultimate Theory of Time.
