He also discovers the latest fad-"smart drugs"-which involves the use of various medications in an attempt to attain optimum health. In addition, there is a rare interview with Alexander Schulgin, who invented MDMA, the active drug in ecstasy. In America there is a growing trend to replace a regular diet with a concoction of up to 200 pills a day. Dr. Marsden meets a couple who take a complicated mix of drugs, believing they will improve their cognitive function and creativity.
