Since I really did not like Frankenstein, another gothic horror novel, I was not expecting to find merit in this. However, I felt that as it is a work that has had a great deal of influence in other stories, films and the genre of horror it deserved a read at some time. I chose to make it my Halloween month reading and was greatly surprised by the quality of the story and character development.
This is the story of Count Dracula and his attempts to further his diabolical dominion told alongside the actions of the main characters to prevent this. The story is related through a series of journal entries, letters, newspaper articles and recordings of meetings between the protagonists. This is not the first story of vampires ever written but if you read only one then make it this one.

Seen multiple movie versions of the story but never read the book. The book is outstanding and the readers are equally great. Compelling read, well worth the time!!

Who would have thought after all of the vampirization of society that this book would be excellent?!
