A mystery of the classic puzzle variety, where the reader has all the same clues as the investigator. This is also a locked room mystery, and has an upstairs-downstairs component as well. This is a later book in the series, so I felt adrift on a few aspects, like how old Dandy is, but that wasn't too distracting.

For readers of: Kerry Greenwood's Phryne Fisher series; and Jacqueline Winspear's Maisie Dobbs series

I really enjoyed Dandy Gilver - sort of "Downton Abbey" meets Hamish MacBeth with some Daisy Dalrymple mixed in. Fun, fast-moving story - great read for a snowy sunday.

Good story that falls apart a bit at the end, the best of the book is found in the well-drawn 'below-stairs' characters. The upper class characters are pretty standard, almost cookie cutter to be honest, but I enjoyed spending time with the servants and the strike adds some welcome interest beyond the crime.
