When an audit finds money missing from the minister's discretionary fund at Aleford's First Parish Church, suspicion falls on Faith's husband, the Rev. Thomas Fairchild, the only person with access to the account. To complicate matters, Ursula Rowe, Faith's friend Pix Miller's elderly and ailing mother, asks Faith's help in dealing with the disquieting letters she's recently received. Secrets, the kind that fester and can make even strong people ill, reach back to the 1920s.

Didn't like this. Didn't finish it.
Story didn't hold my interest enough to keep me from slipping to the last chapter to see how the story was resolved.

I've been reading this series for many years since I was home with my children! The character Faith and her minister husband, Tom live in Aleford, a smalll town in Maine. There many mysteries seem to find them. Very engaging and the characters have grown over time. Try the first one in the series, The Body in the Belfry.

I usually love the Faith Fairchild series, but I found this one to be too "preachy." There were too many places where the story line seemed to go off into a lesson for the reader which I found distracting and unnecessary.
For some reason a couple of my favorite authors such as Joan Medilcott have started doing this which I find disappointing.

The 18th book in Page's Faith Fairchild series. There are two mysteries contained within the book: one that took place during the Great Depression and one from the current day. The author does a great job blending the mystery with Faith's everyday life. And the yummy sounding food that Faith whips up doesn't hurt either!
