SummaryAdd a Summary
A well written although sometimes lengthy account of Malcolm X. The author adds in his observations and interpretations of certain events concerning the life of Malcolm X to give a full telling of his life. Malcolm came from humble beginnings fraught with a broken home and criminal activity. After serving jail time for robbery, he turned to the Nation Of Islam and became a rising star and disciple of Elijah Mohamed.
NOI sought an independent state for black people which Malcolm eventually rejected as he embraced Sunni Islam which was not race based. He broke with NOI after being suspended for making political statements about the Kennedy assassination contrary to the NOI doctrine, and formed the Muslim Mosque. He was assassinated in 1965.
