Boston police detective D. D. Warren returns in another gripping thriller. A family is murdered, apparently by the father (who, it seems, barely failed to take his own life after killing his wife and young children). But soon there are questions, the most pressing of which is, Why would this man, apparently out of the blue, slaughter his own family? Is it possible that someone else was the killer, perhaps another member of the family?

Another great book by Lisa Gardner on the continued story of Detective DD Warren.
Lots of action, suspense, criminal acts and some love. Will keep you reading to the end. Enjoy -I'm on to the next one!! #4 of the DD Warren series

Excellent book. One of my favorites from Lisa Gardner. I just love how her suspenseful storyline keeps you guessing right through to the ending, in this powerful "who done it" novel.

Detective D D Warren is called to a murder scene of a whole family. Just as she and her department are working on who killed them. another whole family is murdered. Danielle, a nurse who works at a hospital for children with severe mental problems is the sole survivor from when her family was murdered by her father. But someone is going after families with children who have been in this hospital and D D has to figure out who it is before another family is murdered.

This is Gardner's Best Book.

I like Lisa Gardner a lot but thought this was the weakest of her novels. She weaves a good mystery usually, with lots of surprises. This one was VERY dark and had a whimpy ending..."everyone in this black story lives happily ever after"! I recommend others by her. This one...not so much!

With out question, The Best Lisa Gardner book that I have read. Its a shame the ending wasn't all that great. But definitely worth the read.

Thriller about the murder suicides of two different families and the detective who tries to figure out whose done it. The clues lead them to a psych ward and a nurse who works there, and of a kid who has stabbed his mother being treated there. The story also lends itself to a self help guru who unbenownst to them had been treating the families by convincing them to eliminate the negative energy in their lives or "darkness" and let the "light" in. The story didn't work for me- I guess too much esp and such. Good straight-forward writer but not much of a descriptive writer.
