Revolves around the personal and professional entanglements of twin sisters Jeannie and Lauren. Jeannie co-owns a vintage clothing store with Amanda, a semi-estranged friend who she fears is trying to end their partnership. With Beeswax, director Andrew Bujalski delivers a prime example of the "mumblecore" movement within film. Like many other so-called "mumblecore" films, many viewers may find this painfully slow going and lacking in the plot department. So this film is definitely not for everyone! IMO, I found it very endearing and a great observational comedy of sorts. Also, fans of Girls take note, as Alex Karpovsky plays a very similar character here as he does on the HBO series.

This was painful to watch, just so uninteresting. It was mildly amusing at some points but not worth the effort of the rest of it.

This isn't a terrible movie, but it's not a great one either. There are so many good examples of "indie" filmmaking that one needn't waste one's time with this. But if you choose, to, just be aware: NOTHING HAPPENS. This movie starts and stops at completely arbitrary points in the characters' lives. The most interesting plot development in the whole film takes place five minutes before it ends. I wanted to see more of how the characters deal with this development, as it's been hanging over their heads the entire film. But no...
