A worthy companion to Swanson's earlier book on the hunt for John Wilkes Booth and his comrades. This book covers some of the same ground at first- the end of the Civil War and the assassination of Lincoln- but moves into different directions by following the two journeys of the Civil War Presidents- Lincoln and Davis. Lincoln's funeral train to his final resting place is part of the narrative, while the search for Davis and his later life are the subject of the other narrative. A fascinating look at both men, and well worth reading for anyone with an interest in the American Civil War.
Good, good book.
