Germany in the 1970s: murderous bomb attacks, the threat of terrorism, and the fear of the enemy inside are rocking the very foundations of the still-fragile German democracy. The radicalized children of the Nazi generation, led by Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof, and Gudrun Ensslin, are fighting a violent war against what they perceive as the new face of fascism. The man who understands them is also their hunter, the head of the German police force, Horst Herold.

If you like political movies then you might enjoy this one. I had never heard about the red army faction so found it interesting but slow and long at times. Also, some parts were rather chaotic and difficult to piece together. Not an easy movie to sit through so be prepared. An OK movie.

One to watch. I don't agree with thier methods, but I agree with nost of their ideals.

A very disturbing film, especially for the way that actors get into their characters and for the nudity, sexuality and violence (but supposedly this was part of the life of the group), especially the violence of the Shah's men and the German police against their own people.

It's worth watching to understand those times and what caused a "communist" (?) terrorist group to begin. The ties between the Red Army Faction (RAF) and the Arab terrorists are only loosely explored but that isn't surprising given the scope of the film.

An interesting contrast is between the "hedonism" of the Germans and how the Arabs (more modest and sexist) are offended by the Germans and their behaviour.

The violence is awful to watch but what really disturbed me is how I came to sympathize with them (RAF members) even as they committed their crimes, not that I ever agreed with their methods.

We face disturbingly similar times today in the sense that there are deep divisions even in stronger democracies like the USA and Canada and perhaps there are seeds for similar movements within the USA, especially when gun control is considered?

Interesting doc-drama about behind the headlines recent history. Not the greatest movie...but story is true and compelling. -Worth the watch.

drama-action-(documentary to a degree) - the world is up in arms, individual countries combatting around the world making headlines and college students take what they have learned and get beatten badly with it and stand firm in their beliefs to change things and seemingly take on not only their homeland country and it's journalistc/political structue but some of the worlds super powers too. Amazing story and lives condensed into less than a decade but seems like much much more.

More docurama violence than socio-political clarification,.. for voyeristic entertainment (?). Hope "we don't get fooled again".

Better than I expected, but really more of a denial than any real recognition the modern day political realities They show RAF as having failed and died out...soooo far from the truth. The movement against the Corporate Capitalist Ideology that has hi-jacked democracy is growing..the Baader-Meinof group was/is only the jumping off point from which to learn from.
