Re-released to coincide with the new Bond film, "Quantum of Solace" collects all of Fleming's short Bond stories, previous found in "Octopussy" and "For Your Eyes Only." The oddly titled "Quantum of Solace" is a dull, uninspired story that only shares a title with the film. In fact, many of the stories simply provided titles ("Octopussy," "A View to a Kill") for the films, rather than plots. While it is convenient to have them all in one volume, none are particularly notable and many are outright boring. The completist will be pleased, while the casual reader may want to stick with earlier novels such as "Dr. No" and "Live and Let Die." What is a quantum, by the way?

A couple of the stories in here became the inspiration for a few of the Roger Moore/Timothy Dalton movies. There's a few titles in here such as "Risico" and a recipe for James Bond's favorite recipe with eggs, in which Bond goes to New York City. A couple of these stories could have been made into full length books.

One of the finest collections of short stories that I've ever read! I couldn't put it down. I was actually hesitant at first to check this out because I wasn't sure if this would seem too dated as it was written 60 years ago before cell phones and email and such- but the slightly older technology really only seems wonky once or twice- and it wasn't distracting.
Some of the stories are action packed, whilst some are slower paced stories with a very satisfying hook or twist at the end. There's a little bit of everything for every kind of reader here.

Definitely not a book for children though- there is certainly some adult content here.
