Rebecca Bloomwood is a young woman struggling with her debilitating obsession with shopping and the sudden collapse of her income source. She unintentionally lands a job writing for a Manhattan financial magazine after a drunken letter-mailing mix-up. Ironically, now Rebecca is writing about the very consumer caution of which she herself has not abided. Rebecca's innovative comparisons and unconventional metaphors for economics grants her critical acclaim, public success, and the admiration of her supportive boss Luke. But as she draws closer to her ultimate goal of writing for renowned fashion magazine Alette, she questions her true ambitions and must determine if overcoming her 'shopaholic' condition will bring her real happiness.

It is good that I did not read the book this film was adapted from because I'm certain that I would not have enjoyed it as well as I did. It was entertaining enough and well acted by the female lead. Also, I will never tire of looking at Hugh Dancy.

A truly riveting story of a girl trying to avoid her problem until she realizes that doing this won't get her anywhere. This book draws you in and holds you there.

I love this movie! I have watched it multiple times and will watch it again. I read the book after seeing the movie and found myself frustrated and bored. The movie line "I shop because..." is key to the lives of many women. This actress was a joy to enjoy as she played this character.

Love the book series and the humour of the author, Sophie Kinsella. Thought the movie would be a nice entertainment, but it turned out to be super hilarious and warm. The movie does not have everything from the book, but I think the producer has chosen the best parts and put it into the movie, which is necessary when a book (comparatively longer - than the movie) is made into a movie.
