Started to read this book, but lost complete interest when the author commented how much she like Montreal because it was so "French" like. After that I didn't think I had any interest on her insight on life and relationships.

Happens Every Day is an all too common story: woman and man fall in love, woman gives up job to follow man, woman and man have children, man leaves woman for woman’s friend. While the plot might be a known quantity, this remains a compelling read with great character analysis and boldly honest commentary. This is not an attempt to vilify anyone, but rather, is an attempt to understand what will never be understandable: how we have no control over others and cannot predict when our lives are about to fall apart. While Isabel Gillies is a former actor from Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, this story is simply about a hurt and confused wife and mother – not a Hollywood drama.

The author reads the story of her six year marriage and its ending (along with a satisfying epilogue). Isabel Gillies gives up her New York career (she played a small role on Law and Order: Special Victims Unit) to follow her poetry professor husband when he is hired by Oberlin College in Ohio. She loves her life in Oberlin raising their two small sons, and is stunned when one day her husband says, "I can't do this anymore." She suspects he's involved with the new English professor, and Isabel tells what happens next with class, brutal honesty and occasional humor.
