In the future, a mercenary named Toorop accepts a contract from Gorsky, a Russian mobster, who instructs him to bring a young woman only known as Aurora to New York. Gorsky gives Toorop a variety of weapons as well as a UN passport that has to be injected under the skin of the neck. Toorop, along with the girl and her guardian Sister Rebeka, leave the Noelite Convent where they lived. The three flee from an unknown group of mercenaries. The stress of humanity's situation causes Aurora to act out in strange ways that neither Toorop, nor Rebeka can explain.

So-so. The plot story kind of falls apart at the end

I really enjoyed this movie, the acting is good, the script is good, and there are tons of great fight scenes. I would recommend this movie to fans of science fiction type action movies.

I watched this when it first came out I didn't like it at all. Upon rewatching it, I liked it. The cyberpunk setting is really well done. The special effects were way above average. The story is decent and I liked the flow of it. The thing that didn't appeal to me were the over the top action sequences. There were a few moments that just reeked of cheesy action flick. No need to do a full flip on a snowmobile to avoid a missle, Vin. I wish it had been a bit more gritty, but overall I was entertained and liked this movie.

Skip It – Babylon A.D. (2008) 90 min. This sci-fi action film appears as if a bunch of writers compromised on what this film would be about. We have a woman who procreates without a man, an evil scientist, an evil woman who wants to start her own religion, and Vin Diesel, of course, who plays the mercenary. The dialogue, especially in the last 30 minutes, is right out of the science fiction films of the 1950s. The special effects may be better but that's it. This is a terrible film with an incomprehensible ending. Don’t waste your time.

Toorop: Oh, you're a disgrace to the profession. You're not a mercenary, you're a f**king terrorist. You need two things to live in this business, your balls and your word. You don't have either! You know the difference between you and me, Karl? I still got both.

Toorop: Look lady, I'm just a delivery boy and to me you're just a package. I'm not your friend, I'm not your brother, I'm not your boyfriend. In six days I'm gonna deliver you and never see you again. Sister Rebecca is right, we shouldn't even talk.
