When newswoman Britt Shelley wakes up to find herself in bed with Jay Burgess, a rising star detective in the Charleston PD, she remembers nothing of how she got there...or of how Jay wound up dead. A disgraced firefighter realizes that the newswoman, Jay's last sexual conquest, might be his only chance to get personal vindication -- and justice for the seven victims of a police station fire.

Add a CommentWhile the story line is interesting and the conclusion is completed, much of the novel is a guide to premarital sex and is from the point of view of a woman who is a slave to her carnal desires. I suppose a welcome companion and love story for a sex-starved woman, but hardly a mystery, which was what I was hoping for. Perhaps this is because it was one of her earlier novels...I had heard that she might be on the level of Alex Kava as a mystery writer...I was very disappointed.
Excellent book!! Very suspenseful!
I really enjoyed this book I read it in 2 days. The story had so many twists and turns and is very suspenseful.
great book! sandra brown is a great writer
BEST Sandra Brown ever!!!! I REALLY enjoyed this book! Well-written; terrific, sympathetic characters; intricate plot with lots of twists and turns and a satisfying ending.
Britt Shelley wakes up to find herself in bed with a dead man, cop Jay Burgess. She has no recollection of how she got there or if she had anything to do with his death. She is "kidnapped" by Raley Gannon, a friend of the dead man. The same thing happened to him 5 years ago - he woke up in bed with a dead woman after one of Jay's famous parties. He couldn't remember anythin either and his life was ruined. Together they try to figure out what happened then and now before someone killls them!
Fast-paced and very exciting! I had a great time with it!
