A pharaoh who ruled Egypt more than 3,500 years ago is one of the most intriguing mysteries of the ancient world. Hatshepsut, the world's first and most powerful female pharaoh, was virtually unknown until the mid 19th century. Although there was a conspiracy to erase Hatshepsut from history, an amazing amount of factual details about her life have emerged. Depicted both as a man and a pharaoh in the hieroglyphs of her temple, she built monuments and sent out expeditions that would enrich Egypt's culture. But how did she manage to become pharaoh? Will her mysteries ever be solved?
