This simple story appealed to both my 3-year-old daughter and me; I'm children up to 7 or 8 would like it as well. My daughter, who like many young girls is obsessed by princesses and dressing-up, was drawn to the beautiful illustrations, and could relate to the main character, who wants to wear a special sari for her birthday. I was happy to be able to introduce her to some aspects of another culture in a way that she found fascinating.
