Put this one on your anti-Oprah, anti-chick flick list! Excellent performances by the entire cast and a highly original and unpredictable script make this one a winner. You won't be able to enter a casino and look at the participants the same way after experiencing the narrator's probing descriptions of the sullen, addicted gamblers he depends on for his income and writing career. Watch this one when you're in the mood to reflect on the compulsive and the desperate moves they make to drag down everyone else with them. To those who watch this movie to the ending, not just the first 15 minutes: I say Bella.

Very dark, depressing type of movie. Stopped watching after about 15 minutes.

Other than entertaining, this movie depicts a materialistic society in which for the sake of gaining material objects including money, one is obliged to pretend all the time that he is strictly submissive to manipulative rules and regulations but indeed he can break all those rules as well as moral values to his own personal advantage and not only be not caught but rather receives recognition and honor...it all depends on how natural he can pretend!!!

There is a subtle twist to this movie. The most interesting aspects to this movies are 1. to see Clive Owen as a young actor, and 2. to see Clive Owen as a blond. Otherwise, it does not have much to offer.
