I find that these men's excuse for being where they were - the BIGGEST load of bull-tweedie that I've ever heard. It is laughable. The treatment is definitely harsh. Maybe you shouldn't have joined a group that flies planes into buildings.
Disgraceful behavior by US military personnel toward prisoners of war. Decisions of policy by US government officials that would have gotten people on the losing side from WWII onward executed as 'war criminals'.
Shows sadistic brutality of US invaders who treated peoples of the region as subhumans with no rights.
This has been our standard practice around the globe for centuries, eg in the Philippines and Vietnam.
The film is full of bad language, and the first half drags. You will get the point by skipping ahead to the first scene with US troops abusing prisoners.
Actors playing thuggish Marine guards and deceitful interrogators are quite convincing in their drive to beat or trick the prisoners into making false confessions. The scenes seem all too real.
It isn't pleasant watching our heroes in uniform torturing helpless victims, but we need to be reminded of the reality behind patriotic rhetoric.
These prisoners at least survived. They were not beaten to death nor drowned like some in US hands.
If Americans were subjected to such Gestapo methods, they would want astronomical compensation. Our leaders did not even apologize.
