The story unfolds slowly. Opportunities come and pass. How to respond when the longing of a missed opportunity resurfaces or a passion can be realized?

I liked this DVD. It has a happy ending. The main characters are 2 aging elderly senior citizens. The script is strong. It is well acted. It is good for all ages. The story is slow moving. You may relate to the experience of the actors. I like Maggie Smith as an actress.

The fish pie made me gag. The movie is slow and boring.

This movie rubs up against many social mores within soft entertainment values. Elderly, secluded single women, two matrons and a servant, rescue a handsome, mysterious, needy lad. This scenario coupled with an older medical doctor pursuing a knock-out, wealthy lady artist while suspicious townspeople look on. Great views of an English seaside community.

The young love interest is cute as a button! I did not see anything to despise about the rich and beautiful woman who seemed to have a lot of idle time. This is a movie about fate but it is also a story about how Love and Pain are intertwined.

I happened upon this movie and chose it because of the two well-regarded actresses Judi Dench and Maggie Smith. It was a touching story about a young man saved by these two older women, sisters, and how they took him under their wing to nurture him back to health. They shared their home and their food during war time--obviously a generous action considering the war time in which they lived. The plot had some great twists with a little bit of romance and forlorn romanticism. The Judi Dench character kind of falls in love with him, the DVD jacket explains it as her feelings of "lost opportunities". Maybe Dame Judi Dench recaptures her lost opportunities in "Tea with Mussolini".

A beautiful and haunting film set in pre-war England of regrets and memories. With two brilliant actresses - Judi Dench and Maggie Smith - (see them also in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), gorgeous scenery, and utterly divine music, this film will captivate you.

This was a beautiful story. I am glad a stumbled across it. It is sweet and honest. The music and scenery are fantastic.

Great to watch these two major stars working together in a pleasant if somewhat implausible story. The scenery the music and the good feeling make up for the holes in the storyline.
