This film of over 1.5 hours is now over 25 years old. I attempted it a few years back, but gave up for I found it long and boring. This time I persisted, and as the minutes went by I became more and more interested in the main character. In short, this is a great film adaption of the auto-bio by Janet Frame. Now I have to catch a couple of her books just to get a taste of what her writing was like.
