5 stars for Cagney. A good video transfer.

Very cool movie. Cagney was nominated for an Oscar for this, and deservedly so. The scenes with the Dead End Kids were comical. Never heard of this movie before, so I was glad stumbled across it.

Cagney was THE MAN. Peerless. Fearless. He even smacked Bogie around in this one! The resemblance between him and Frankie Burke (young Rocky) was spooky. Brilliantly directed by the forgotten and hugely talented Michael Curtiz (Casablanca, White Christmas, etc.). Great flick. Those Dead End Kids were kind of annoying, though. That basketball game looked like a rugby match... So... Whaddya hear? Whaddya say? Yellow, or faking it for Father Jerry's benefit? FIVE STARS.
