My comment is not about the text of the book but about the narration of the CD.
It is read by Matt Damon, so I anticipated a lively reading. But his narration is a flat, monotonous drone.

Wonderful book, but it's abridged. :/

Baloney. Zinn, unlike many historians, tells you right up front what his bias is...and that any historian who says they don't have a "perspective" is lying to you. A majority of the points made in the book are not the "rantings" of Zinn, but direct quotes from the Congressional Record or, for example, news stories in the New York Times as of 1865...etc etc. You are often left to draw your own conclusions from the new reports and arguments in Congress at the time of the historical event. Doesn't get better than that.

Save yourself a few hours of your life and read this comment rather than the book: everything evil in the world is the fault of the US government, which is illegitimate because most people don't vote but secretly agree with Howard Zinn. There is a history to be told from the eyes of the have-nots, but this isn't it - it's more like a ranting blog on a conspiracy website.
