I am so glad to listen to a mature artist and a mature voice, as most contemporary music is made by children and amateurs in this comparison. Wonder what would have happened if the BBs had continued down this path at the time. I must say that Pet Sounds had better songs, but this record would certainly be more innovative - and could indeed have rivalled the Sgt. Pepper record.

Spectacular disc altogether. Much of the original melodies from the would-be 1967-68 release but with modern audio mixing and new vocals. I actually like the updated, more recognizable Beach Boys songs ("Heroes & Villains" and "Good Vibrations") on this CD better than the older versions. A couple tracks have lyrics that make absolutely no sense ("Barnyard" and "Wind Chimes") and one song in particular ("Mrs. O'Leary's Cow") is absolutely terrifying to the point of being borderline nightmare fuel. Those tracks aside, the album is definitely well worth a listen.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: The track "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow" (more infamously known as "The Elements: Fire") is an instrumental track based on the Great Chicago Fire and overall can be quite scary and unsettling to listen to and also breaks the cheerful mood of the album.
