Concerns the last twelve hours in the life of Jesus of Nazareth. In the Garden of Gethsemane near the Mount of Olives, Jesus is betrayed by Judas Iscariot. Jesus is condemned to death for blasphemy and brought before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor of Judea, for sentencing. The roaring crowd demands his death, so Pilate orders his crucifixion. Jesus is severely beaten and made to carry his cross up to Golgotha, the hill outside Jerusalem, where he is nailed to the cross. With his mother looking on, he dies.

Im not using this comment section to preach I just want to use it to give my review of the movie. I thought it was a great movie, with a great cast, and a great director. Every actor played there part perfectly, especially Jim Caviezel, and Mel Gibson did a great job.

Very accurate? How stupid is that comment? He was there? No. This is an interesting movie, albeit very brutal visually. The shameful truth which is clearly shown is that it was the Jews who caused Jesus' crucifixion, so maybe they deserve some of the mayhem they've received over the centuries. Christianity is a good religion in this day: Christians have pretty much grown out of slalughtering each other as well "infidels." islam is and always will be a vulgar, grossly filthy concept since its originator was a back-stabbing child molesting cowardly perv. islam must die for there to be peace in the world; there is no moderate muslim--if a mus, he is avowed to slaughter innocents or enslave them. mus need to die; all three billion of them. No, there was no virgin birth, unless Mary was a frog; transubstantiation? Catholics are all cannibals. But, if Christianity can help the weak be better people, it is a good thing.

Watched it last night for the first time. Very accurate, bloody and well done. Best film of Christ's Passion ever filmed.

My dear friend who died one day. My dad did the same thing while building a church, nailed a wooden Jesus to a cross for display. My friend payed my dad a visit that day, that my dad never forgot. Jesus have been in my life since birth in the womb, and throughout my life time. He told my dad not to worship idols like the cross, it was a bad reminder to Jesus. Look to the heart instead.

Mel Gibson, no matter what you think of his personal life; no matter what you think of his father's beliefs of the Jewish people or the Jewish faith; no matter that some put the label of anti-Semitic on this film, no matter what you or anyone else thinks, Mel Gibson is a great artist. This is one of his three masterpieces, together with Brave Heart and Apocalypto, and is beyond question a great work. If you are a Christian and believe, then you will be greatly moved. It is not pleasant to watch the torturous brutality of what Our Lord went through, but almost everyone else sugarcoats the true visual reality. For believers, this movie speaks so remarkably well of the human price in suffering that was paid for our salvation (the Lamb of God). The only begotten became man, suffered, died and was buried. This movie is a reflection of the suffering. And remember this: no man goes to the cross voluntarily. Thanks Mr. Gibson.

Some people will pass on this movie because they have heard it is anti semitic. Others will pass because they don't believe Mel Gibson has any credibility. What a shame.

This is a beautiful movie that shows how love can grow from hate and the suffering of one man to ease the guilt and suffering of the many.

I particularly enjoyed standout performances by Jim Caviezel and Hristo Shopov.

This is a very long movie. You will feel exhausted at the end of this movie as you watch in great detail Christ being wiped for his entire march. Or you can just fast forward and not have to endure this or better yet, don't bother with this movie.

"The Demon of Brownsville Road" is a book about the true story of an American family. They bought this movie and "played it on the second floor of our house for seven months straight, twenty-four hours a day." Catholic Bishop, priests, monks, and Exorcist helped also to finally expel the demonic infestation of their property. (See pages 156 & 236). Bob Cranmer is an excellent author who lived to tell their story.

Devotees, sermonize elsewhere.
A possible explanation (in part) for the perverse popularity of this movie to be found in:
“The Misery of Christianity, or, A Plea for a Humanity Without God” or in the original German
“Das Elend des Christentums oder Plädoyer für eine Humanität ohne Gott”
by Joachim Kahl (1941-) with a preface by Gerhard Szczesny, translated by N.D. Smith,
published by Penguin, 1971, ISBN-10: 0140213244, ISBN-13: 978-0140213249
and, another reference:
“Mel Gibson Isn't Just an Angry Narcissist – His tirades are the distilled violence, cruelty, and bigotry of right-wing Catholic ideology.”

Definately not by any stretch is this meant to be a Hallmark card Jesus movie. This folks is as real as it gets. A 2 hour realistic and graphic portrayal to the events of Jesus being arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, his beating at the hands of Roman soldiers, which seems to go on endlessly, but that's what it was like. He is then brought before Pilate to be sentenced to death by Crucifixion and upon carrying the Cross to Golgotha, he is nailed to said cross and dies. The film ends with his resurrection. I found it to be one of the most moving motion picture experiences Ive been to, and the first film I didnt see for mere entertaiment purposes. At times controversial, but also a powerful thought provoking picture, PASSION delivers.

Frightening or Intense Scenes: The scourging is VERY intense. Actually, the whole movie is intense. And when Satan is talking to Jesus, that part is creepy and intense.

It was hard to finish watching, so much cruelty. No one could change Jesus to the bad side no matter had bad they treated him.
