I laughed out loud reading this and now I have to read the entire series! There were only a few British-specific references I didn't get.

This book was strange, great story line but maybe for a older age group..... He starts the book at 13 and 3/4 but ends the book at 15.....
Would be a good book for 14 and over insted of 13...... Unless you are a very MATURE 13 year old.

But it was still a very good book.

I've probably read this book 15 times. Absolutely hilarious and captures the 80's perfectly. Many poignant parts. Will remind you of your first love and how your parents *always* embarassed you when you were a teenager.

Like "Diary of a Wimpy Kid", but more realistic, funnier, and much, much better.

Poignant at times, but also laugh-out-loud funny.

Fictional diary of 14 year old British boy, during Thatcher era. His parents split, he doesnt really like his dog, he visits an 89 year old man to help him daily. Also has school misadventures: is bullied (his grandmother straightens out the bully), his best friend not very good to him, and has major crush on well to do girl. Very humorous.
