Cannot recommend this version AT ALL. Was prepared to like it and the first act was fine, but both the set and costumes for the entire second act were all monochromatic - a kind of pale salmon color. Who does that?! Whatever the opposite is for the phrase "a feast for the eyes", this was it.

I liked this ballet dance DVD. If you like the Nutcracker sound track and like to watch ballet, you will love this show. It was well done. It is the new style done 1944 and later. this is when North America started this Christmas Tradition. Earlier than 1944, the Russians approached the choreography differently. It had been part of the Russian custom long before North America.

I do not recommend this dvd because the camera work is frustrating. The edge of the frame often cuts off at the ankles of the dancers. This is a ballet!! I want to see all of their feet.
