This was a rather enjoyable and at moments even funny filming of the Williams' play of the same title. All of the performances are quite good, especially in the second half, after the dinner guest arrives. The music is just right. The use of cutbacks is greatly overdone.

A classic telling of a classic Tennessee Williams play complete with a classic actress Katherine Hepburn in the lead role. I did have some difficulty following the dialogue due to the strong accent but more the quality of the recording being not the best.

My impatient aunt decided after 45 minutes that she'd had enough and switched it off, but I found the play intriguing so I watched the end after she left. It is a sad movie about hopes that must be abandoned and whatnot.

A slow and emotional movie about a lovelorn young woman who lives at home with her brother and mother.
